Campaign rules & payouts
How earnings are calculated, how the budget pool is shared, when a campaign ends, and how you get paid. These rules apply to every campaign on CUTPAYS.
01 · How earnings are calculated
Every campaign sets a CPM — the rate it pays per 1,000 views — and a total budget pool. Your earnings on a clip are simply:
earnings = views ÷ 1,000 × CPM
Views are counted across all the clips you post to a campaign, and earnings accrue automatically as those views come in — you don't claim them per clip. One condition applies first: a clip only starts earning once the brand has approved it (see Clip approval below).
02 · The shared budget pool
All creators on a campaign earn from the same shared pool. As clips gain views, the pool is drawn down. When the pool is fully spent, the campaign closes to new earnings and its status becomes Budget spent — no further earnings accrue from that point, no matter how many more views arrive.
The pool is paid for up front: a brand funds the full budget by card before the campaign can go live, and the budget is locked once paid. Every dollar a campaign shows is money already committed — earnings never depend on a brand paying later.
You can always see how much is left in the pool on the campaign page.
03 · The clip earning window
A clip earns from its views for a limited window after it's posted — 30 days by default, though a campaign can set anywhere from 7 to 90 days (shown on the campaign page). When the window closes, the clip's view count freezes: the views it collected keep counting toward your earnings, but new views no longer add to them.
Views are only monitored while the campaign is live — when a campaign ends, pauses, or spends its budget, all its clips stop accruing regardless of their window.
04 · Wrapping up: the 90% budget lock
Once a campaign has spent about 90% of its budget pool, it starts wrapping up. From that point it closes to new clippers and no new clips can be posted to it — even though its status still shows as open.
Clips that were already posted keep earning as normal until the pool is fully spent. This soft close stops a campaign from taking on more creators and posts than its remaining budget can realistically pay out.
05 · When demand exceeds the pool
If creators collectively deliver more paid views than the pool can cover, earnings are allocated per clip, in posting order — earliest-posted clips first — until the pool is exhausted. A clip posted late may not be fully paid for every view once the pool runs low, regardless of when its creator joined the campaign.
The takeaway: post early to secure your share of the pool.
06 · How views are tracked
View counts are pulled from the connected social platforms on a regular schedule (roughly every 15 minutes). The numbers you see in the app can therefore lag the platform by a short while — this is normal and catches up on the next refresh.
07 · When a campaign ends
A campaign is over when either of these happens:
- It reaches its end date. We run one final view refresh at that moment so trailing views since the last update are counted, then earnings are finalised and frozen.
- Its budget is fully spent. Earnings are already at the pool ceiling, so they finalise immediately.
Once a campaign is no longer live (ended, budget spent, paused, or closed) you can't post new clips to it. Clips you already posted keep the views and earnings they had at finalisation.
08 · Approval-required campaigns
Some brands review creators before letting them post. On those campaigns you join as pending approval and can only start posting clips once the brand approves you. Until then the post controls stay locked and you'll see an "awaiting brand approval" notice.
09 · Clip approval
After you post a clip it goes to the brand for review. It stays pending approval until the brand approves it, and it only earns on its views once approved. Each of your posts shows its state — "pending approval", "approved", or "changes requested".
Views on a pending clip are still tracked, so when it's approved its earnings are credited from the views it already had. If a brand rejects a clip that decision is final — the clip won't earn, so post a new one to try again. Some campaigns auto-approve clips, in which case they start earning the moment they're posted.
The CUTPAYS team can also moderate any clip. A clip taken down by CUTPAYS stops earning from that moment — earnings already credited stay yours — and you're notified with the reason.
10 · Brand reviews
Brands can leave a star rating and written review on your creator profile, but only after you've posted at least one clip on one of their campaigns — being approved onto a campaign alone isn't enough. Brands whose campaigns you've applied to can view your profile and the reviews other brands left, even before they approve you, so your track record travels with you.
11 · Cashout minimum
Cashing out unlocks once your total balance across all your campaigns reaches $10. There's no per-campaign minimum — earnings from every campaign you're on count toward the same $10 threshold. Until your combined balance hits $10, the withdraw button stays locked and shows how much more you need.
12 · Requesting a payout
Once your total balance reaches $10, you can request a payout. Cashing out is all-or-nothing: withdrawing takes your entire available balance in one request — you can't cash out a single campaign or a chosen amount. Requests are reviewed by the CUTPAYS team before being approved and paid — you'll be notified when the decision is made. Only one payout request can be open per campaign at a time.
Every payout covers only your new earnings — what a campaign has earned since your last cash-out on it. The amount leaves your available balance as soon as you request it (it shows as pending); if a request is declined, that amount returns to your balance. Earnings you already cashed out are never paid twice, and earning more after a payout simply unlocks the difference for your next one.
Cashing out requires two-factor authentication: set up an authenticator app (TOTP) in Settings, and confirm every withdrawal with a fresh 6-digit code. Without 2FA enabled, your earnings stay in your balance and cannot be withdrawn.
Approved payouts are delivered as Revolut transfers to your personal Revolut account — add the name on your account and your Revtag on the Payouts page so the money can reach you. Transfers between Revolut accounts are typically instant.
13 · Fair play
Earnings are based on genuine views. Artificially inflated views, or clips that are removed or made private after posting, may be disqualified from earning. Brands and CUTPAYS may review activity on any campaign.
